Types of Acne Scars

Ice Pick Scars
Narrow, deep scars that appear as tiny punctures on the skin. They extend below the surface and are often the most noticeable type of pimple scar.

Boxcar Scars
Wider scars with defined edges and a flat base, commonly appearing on the cheeks and temples.

Rolling Scars
Scars that create a wavy or uneven skin texture due to underlying scar tissue pulling the skin surface downward.

Brown/Dark Marks (PIH)
Flat brown or dark patches left behind after inflammation. Common in darker skin tones and may linger even after breakouts have cleared.

Red Marks (PIE)
Pink or red marks caused by post-breakout inflammation. More commonly seen in fairer skin tones and can remain visible long after the blemish has healed.
